Nigeria confirms 313 new coronavirus cases, total rises to 7,839

With 313 new cases announced last night by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the national tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases now stands at 7839.

The NCDC said 2263 have been discharged and 226 deaths recorded.

Lagos, which earlier announced the discharged of 31 patients, recorded 148 fresh cases.

The other cases were recorded in the Federal Capital Territory (36); Rivers (27); Edo (19); Kano (13) Ogun (12); Ebonyi (11); Nasarawa and Delta (eight each); Oyo (seven); Kaduna (five); Kwara (four); three each in Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa. One case was recorded in Anambra

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who announced the release of 31 patients, gave the highlights of the all Nigerian patients as 12 females and 19 males -.

He said a patient was discharged from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba; Onikan Isolation Centre (13);  Gbagada Centre (11); Agidingbi Isolation Centre five and one from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Isolation Centre.

The governor said: “With this, the number of patients successfully managed and discharged from our Isolation facilities has risen to 738.

“The discharge of #COVID19 patients is encouraging and we thank our front line health workers for the remarkable progress we have made.

“I urge us all not to relent in the battle against the this global pandemic, we must continue to practice hand hygiene, wear a mask and observe physically distance when outdoor.”
